World Cup: Morocco Qualifies for Knockout Phase for First Time Since 1986

Morocco qualified to the round of 16 of the global football tournament following its third and last match in the group stage.

The Atlas Lions made another well-deserved victory against Canada, crushing the North American team with 2-1.

Morocco’s football star Hakim Ziyech opened the scoring during today’s match in the fourth minute, boosting fans' energy to chant more patriotic slogans and the famous collective “Sir,Sir,Sir” (move) to motivate their national team during today’s game.

Youssef En-Nseyri scored  Morocco’s second game in the 23rd minute of the match. the winning goal for Morocco in the minute, enabling Morocco to qualify for the round of 16 for the first time since 1986.

Canada celebrated a one goal during the match after an own goal scored by Morocco’s Nayef Ageurd against Morocco’s net in the 40th minute.

With this win, Morocco became the second African team to qualify for the next phase following Senegal.

Despite the rainy cold weather, thousands of fans carried their flags and wore Morocco’s football jerseys to celebrate today’s win.

Some others used vehicles, including pickups, cars, trucks, and three-wheelers to celebrate Morocco’s victory, a historic win that Moroccans will remember for life.

Morocco’s Atlas Lions made spectacular performances during the 2022 World Cup. The first opening game against Croatia finished with a 0-0 draw, with one point for each team.

Morocco, however, crushed Belgium 2-0 in its second game in Group F, bringing the total points secured in the tournament to 4.
